Impotency
"The inability to obtain and/or maintain a penile erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse" is known as impotence. It is also termed as erectile dysfunction (ED) or male sexual dysfunction.
Many males of different age groups suffer from impotence but at varying levels. Males above the age of 40 have the most cases, but growing age is not always the main reason for impotence. Even men in their twenties and thirties can have impotence problems for various different reasons.
Causes of Impotence
Physiological causes - Many people with diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, prostate problems, history of heart attacks and strokes, hormonal imbalance, abdominal injury or surgery suffers a higher risk of impotence. Lifestyle choices like smoking, drugs and drinking can also increase the physiological risk of a person developing impotence.
